Ted Bowness was born in 1928 in a tiny stone cottage in Great Langdale. He remembers an idyllic childhood in the area, looking for birds nests, fishing for brown trout in the local rivers, as well as helping with the farming tasks of the day.
Ted was also a keen photographer from early on, “I set out in Langdale to photograph many of the men I knew who were farmers.” Ted has taken thousands of photographs of the Cumbrian landscape over the last few decades. His photographs record the land use of the past and the changing fell landscape.
